YELLOWJACKET BUZZ 2018
Welcome to the 2018-19 school year. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, administration, teachers, and support staff, I want to welcome both our new and returning families to the Stevensville School District. I also want to welcome the Stevensville community to the school year. Without your continued support, our schools could not provide high quality education to the children in our community. We continue to partner with our parents, grandparents, adult education participants, sport fans, business owners, and occasional visitors to build a strong educational foundation and enhance learning for our students.
This newsletter contains a large amount of information. This information can also be accessed on the Stevensville School District website at www.stevensvilleschools.org. All information will be available throughout the year and the webpage is updated with new information and announcements on a regular basis. If you cannot find information you are seeking on the website, please contact the district webmaster and he will direct you to the correct information or provide information at your request.
The Board of Trustees is continuing to explore options regarding the upgrade and remodel of our facilities. In the coming weeks, an independent consultant with the Hingston-Roach Group will be conducting surveys and listening sessions regarding the Facilities and Site Master Plan developed by MMW Architects. We are working to determine the best options to address overcrowding at the K-3 building, aging structures, handicap accessibility requirements, and adjacent PE/Sport facilities. While we are working to address the most significant deficiencies, the cost of most of this work has outpaced the money available in the general fund.
In the past month, the grandstand at the track/football facility was demolished as it was declared unsafe by our engineering firm. We have also worked to address basic ADA and safety access issues in the high school. However, handicap accessibility, safety concerns, an aged boiler, poor air control, outdated classrooms, restroom problems, and poor energy efficiency continue to be an issue for both the K-3 and High School buildings. As the Board of Trustees continues to work to address these needs, we ask that you participate in the surveys and listening sessions conducted by the Hingston-Roach Group. We encourage the entire community to provide input and feedback as we plan the long-term future of the Stevensville Schools.
The Stevensville Public Schools are also pleased to welcome several new teaching and coaching staff members to our District for the 2018-19 year. In the high school, new staff will include Casey Zander (mathematics), Shelby Moody (business and computer), McKenzie Luth (counselor) and Terri Murphy (science) will be returning to teach in both high school and middle school. The K-3 building will also have several new staff members. Bruce Jessop will be teaching in the 2nd grade, Riley Golder will be the new kindergarten teacher, and Theresa Lombardi will be teaching the K-3 special education students. New middle school staff will be Terri Murphy (science), Jon Foster (special education), Mat Vanosdell (science), Kyla Paulsen (4th grade) and Jacqueline Marshall-Cox (social studies). We encourage you to come to the open house and welcome all of our new staff members to the community. We are pleased to welcome them to our staff.
We also want to welcome several new coaches to our staff. Lacy Janes will be the cheer squad advisor, Kyla Paulsen will be the head volleyball coach, Nick Giese will be the head girls’ soccer coach, and Alycia (Sims) Harris will be the head girls’ basketball coach.
As superintendent, I am always excited to welcome students and families to a new year with the Stevensville Public Schools. The students and staff make this school district a great place to work and learn. We are always striving to improve and do our best, and we have set several staff goals for the coming year. These goals include curriculum and program alignment in all grade levels, writing and reading instruction across curricular disciplines, staff training for technology integration, assessment/data interpretation, and emerging best practices. Through best practice and implementation of our goals we are expanding our academic programming to expose students to additional courses and opportunities at all grade levels. To this end, the district has worked diligently to build programming in core academics, gifted education, and in college preparatory and technical fields. We strive to insure our students finish their K-12 education college and are career ready. To reach these goals the Stevensville staff will continue to examine our current strengths and weaknesses and engage in processes that improve the education we provide Stevensville students. We hope you have a great school year and look forward to your continued educational support of students throughout our community.
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Moore
Superintendent
State Mandated Immunization Requirements for Attendance
As of the fall of 2016, all students must meet immunization requirements to attend or they must have a proper exemption on file.
The 2015 Montana Legislature revised school immunization requirements for school attendance. The law effective October 1, 2015, requires students attending school be vaccinated against varicella disease (chickenpox) and receive a booster of pertussis vaccine before entering 7th grade. The district has provided several notices of these immunization requirements during the prior school year
EXISTING REQUIREMENTS:
- DTaP/DTP – 4 vaccinations before entering kindergarten with at least one of these being given after the 4th
- Polio (IPV/OPV) – 3 vaccinations before entering kindergarten with at least one of these being given after the 4th
- MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella) – 2 vaccinations before entering kindergarten with the first shot being given after the first birthday.
NEW VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Varicella (chickenpox) – Students in kindergarten through 12th grade will need to have two doses of varicella vaccine or laboratory evidence of immunity/confirmation of disease. Diagnosis or verification of varicella/herpes zoster disease in past by health care provider.
- Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) – Will be required for students prior to attending 7th Students currently in grades 8-12 who have not yet received their Tdap will require a single dose. There has been a booster shot required before entering 7th grade for years but the requirement did not include the pertussis portion of the vaccination. Your child may have received a booster before 7th grade, but unless it included the pertussis portion of the shot they will still need to receive an additional vaccination.
It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to provide the school with proof of the required vaccinations. In order for your child to attend school, all vaccinations must be up to date.

Asbestos Notice
Uncontrolled asbestos contamination in buildings can be a significant environmental and public health problem. Both the public and private sectors have been dealing with asbestos issue for many years. In 1986, the Congress enacted the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) primarily to require school districts to identify asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in their school buildings and take appropriate actions to control the release of asbestos fibers. In 1987, the U.S. Environment Protection Agency finalized a regulatory program which enforces the AHERA mandate. A copy of the Asbestos Management Plan is available for your review during regular office hours. Mr. David Haacke is designated as the Asbestos Program Coordinator and all inquiries regarding the plan should be directed to him.

School Meals Pricing Program
Children need healthy meals to learn. Stevensville Public Schools offers healthy meals every school day. Breakfast cost is $1.25; lunch cost is $2.25 K-5, $2.50 grades 6-12 and $3.00 for adults. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced-price meals. Reduced-price is $.30 for breakfast, $.40 for lunch.
To apply for free or reduced-price meals, use the Free and Reduced-Price School Meals Application, which is enclosed in this Newsletter. We cannot approve an application that is not complete, so be sure to fill out all required information. Only one (1) application per family is required. Return the completed application to: Janet Schott, 300 Park Avenue, Stevensville, MT 59870, 406-777-5481, Ext. 320.
Here are answers to questions you may have about applying:
- 1. One Application per Family! Families only need to fill out one application per family, not one per student. If you are on the SNAP program all that needs to be submitted to the Superintendent’s office is the Letter from the state of Montana stating that you are participating in the SNAP program that goes out to all SNAP families.
- Who can get free or reduced-price meals? Children in households getting Food Stamps, TANF, or FDPIR, and most foster children can get free meals regardless of your income. Also, if your household income is within the limits on the Federal Income Chart, your children can get free or reduced-price meals.
- Will the information I give be checked? Yes, we may ask you to send written proof of the information you give.
- If I don’t qualify now, may I apply again later? Yes. You may apply or re-apply at any time during the school year if your household size goes up, income goes down, or if you start getting Food Stamps, TANF, or FDPIR.
- What if I disagree with the school’s decision about my application? You should talk to school officials. You also may ask for a hearing by calling or writing to: Dr. Robert Moore, 300 Park Avenue, Stevensville, MT, 777-5481.
If you have other questions or need help, call Janet Schott, 777-5481, Ext. 320.

Limited English Proficient (LEP) Students
The Stevensville School District has the responsibility under federal law to serve students who are limited English proficient and need English instructional services. The District will ensure opportunities are provided for parents to meet with building principals and teachers, provide information how parents can be involved in their child’s education, and how parents can help their child attain English proficiency and succeed in school. The District works hard to provide information to parents in a format and language that they can understand.
Each year, within 30 days of the start of the school year or the student’s enrollment if after the start, the District will notify parents of a student identified as limited English proficient of the reasons their child has so been identified, the child’s level of English proficiency and how it was assessed, the methods of instruction used in its programs and others, how its program will help their child, and when the child is expected to gain English proficiency.
The District will provide notice to parents of limited English proficient students when the child fails to make progress on annual achievement objectives within 30 days of learning of such status.
Parents seeking more information about the District’s identification of and programs for students with limited English proficiency should contact Curriculum Coordinator, Jessica Shourd.
School Records
In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Stevensville Public School District #2 may grant access to or release information from student records without prior written consent to school officials with a legitimate educational interest in the information. A school official is a person employed by the District in an administrative, supervisory, academic, or support staff position (including, but not limited to administrators, teachers, counselors, paraprofessionals, coaches, and bus drivers), and the board of trustees. A school official has a legitimate educational interest in student education information when the official needs the information in order to fulfill his or her professional responsibilities for the district.
The District guarantees parents the right to inspect, review, and opportunity for hearing to challenge their child’s school records. Request for review should be submitted in writing to the building principal in which the student attends. Parents have the right to file a complaint with the DOE.
It is the intent of Stevensville Public Schools to continue to release certain information on its pupils to the news media that is generally public information, such as athletic performances, honor roll, honor awards, student’s name, address, telephone listing, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, dates of attendance, awards received, photographs, grade level, enrollment status (e.g., undergraduate or graduate; full-time or part-time), degrees, most recent educational agency or institution attended, and other information generally found in the yearbook without the consent of parents. Any material not pertinent to a student’s file will be removed. The school will select and include only information, which can assist the student with academic, personal, social and vocational decisions.
Any parent(s)/guardian(s) or eligible student may prohibit the release of any or all of the above information by delivering written objection to the building principal within thirty (30) days of the date of this notice (Board Policy 3600F). Stevensville School Board policy #3600 dictates the guidelines for student records. A copy of the policy is available at the Superintendent’s office or at http://stevi.schoolwires.net.
Protection of Pupil Rights
Stevensville School District protects pupil information and confidentiality. The District does not sell or market personal student information. The District, however, is not prohibited from collecting, disclosing, or using personal information collected from students for the exclusive purpose of developing, evaluating, or providing educational products or services for, or to, students or educational institutions such as the following: 1. College or other post-secondary education recruitment or military recruitment; 2. Book clubs, magazines, and programs providing access to low-cost literary products; 3. Curriculum and instructional materials used by elementary schools and secondary schools; 4. Tests and assessments to provide cognitive, evaluative, diagnostic, clinical, aptitude, or achievement information about students (or to generate other statistically useful data for the purpose of securing such tests and assessments) and the subsequent analysis and public release of the aggregate data from such tests and assessments (individual data is not released); 5. The sale by students of products or services to raise funds for school-related or education- related activities; 6. Student recognition programs.
McKinney-Vento Homeless Act
If your family lives in any of the following situations: 1) in a shelter, 2) in a motel or campground due to lack of alternative adequate accommodation, 3) in a car, park, abandoned building, bus or train station, or 4) double up with other people due to loss of housing or economic hardship, your school-age children may qualify for certain rights under the federal McKinney-Vento Act. Eligible children have the right to receive a free and appropriate public education regardless of their enrollment eligibility. For further information and eligibility please contact elementary principal Jessica Shourd, or your building principal.
Notice of FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older (“eligible students”) certain rights with respect to the student’s education records. These rights are:
- The right to inspect and review the student’s education records within 45 days after the day the Stevensville School District receives a request for access.
Parents or eligible students should submit to the school principal a written request that identifies the records they wish to inspect. The school official will make arrangements for access and notify the parent or eligible student of the time and place where the records may be inspected.
- The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records that the parent or eligible student believes are inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation of the student’s privacy rights under FERPA.
Parents or eligible students who wish to ask the Stevensville School District to amend a record should write the school principal, clearly identify the part of the record they want changed, and specify why it should be changed. If the school decides not to amend the record as requested by the parent or eligible student, the school will notify the parent or eligible student of the decision and of their right to a hearing regarding the request for amendment. Additional information regarding the hearing procedures will be provided to the parent or eligible student when notified of the right to a hearing.
- The right to provide written consent before the school discloses personally identifiable information (PII) from the student’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
One exception, which permits disclosure without consent, is disclosure to school officials with legitimate educational interests. A school official is a person employed by the school as an administrator, supervisor, instructor, or support staff member (including health or medical staff and law enforcement unit personnel) or a person serving on the school board. A school official also may include a volunteer or contractor outside of the school who performs an institutional service of function for which the school would otherwise use its own employees and who is under the direct control of the school with respect to the use and maintenance of PII from education records, such as an attorney, auditor, medical consultant, or therapist; a parent or student volunteering to serve on an official committee, such as a disciplinary or grievance committee; or a parent, student, or other volunteer assisting another school official in performing his or her tasks. A school official has a legitimate educational interest if the official needs to review an education record in order to fulfill his or her professional responsibility.
Upon request, the school discloses education records without consent to officials of another school district in which a student seeks or intends to enroll, or is already enrolled if the disclosure is for purposes of the student’s enrollment or transfer.
- The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the [School] to comply with the requirements of FERPA. The name and address of the Office that administers FERPA are:
Family Policy Compliance Office, U.S. Department of Education, 400 Maryland Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20202
Listed below are disclosures that elementary and secondary schools may make without consent:
FERPA permits the disclosure of personally identifiable information (PII) from students’ education records, without consent of the parent or eligible student, if the disclosure meets certain conditions found in 34 C.F.R. 99.31 of the FERPA regulations. Except for disclosures to school officials, disclosures related to some judicial orders or lawfully issued subpoenas, disclosures of directory information, and disclosures to the parent or eligible student, §99.32 of the FERPA regulations requires the school to record the disclosure. Parents and eligible students have a right to inspect and review the record of disclosures. A school may disclose PII from the education records of a student without obtaining prior written consent of the parents or the eligible student –
- To other school officials, including teachers, within the educational agency or institution whom the school has determined to have legitimate educational interests. This includes contractors, consultants, volunteers, or other parties to whom the school has outsourced institutional services or functions, provided that the conditions listed in §99.31(a)(1)(i)(B)(1) – (a)(1)(i)(B)(2) are met. (§99.31(a)(1))
- To officials of another school, school system, or institution of postsecondary education where the student seeks or intends to enroll, or where the student is already enrolled if the disclosure is for purposes related to the student’s enrollment or transfer, subject to the requirements of §99.34. (§99.31(a)(2))
- To authorized representatives of the U. S. Comptroller General, the U. S. Attorney General, the U.S. Secretary of Education, or State and local educational authorities, such as the State educational agency in the parent or eligible student’s State (SEA). Disclosures under this provision may be made, subject to the requirements of §99.35, in connection with an audit or evaluation of Federal- or State-supported education programs, or for the enforcement of or compliance with Federal legal requirements that relate to those programs. These entities may make further disclosures of PII to outside entities that are designated by them as their authorized representatives to conduct any audit, evaluation, or enforcement or compliance activity on their behalf. (§§99.31(a)(3) and 99.35)
- In connection with financial aid for which the student has applied or which the student has received, if the information is necessary to determine eligibility for the aid, determine the amount of the aid, determine the conditions of the aid, or enforce the terms and conditions of the aid. (§99.31(a)(4))
- To State and local officials or authorities to whom information is specifically allowed to be reported or disclosed by a State statute that concerns the juvenile justice system and the system’s ability to effectively serve, prior to adjudication, the student whose records were released, subject to §99.38. (§99.31(a)(5))
- To organizations conducting studies for, or on behalf of, the school, in order to: (a) develop, validate, or administer predictive tests; (b) administer student aid programs; or (c) improve instruction. (§99.31(a)(6))
- To accrediting organizations to carry out their accrediting functions. (§99.31(a)(7))
- To parents of an eligible student if the student is a dependent for IRS tax purposes. (§99.31(a)(8))
- To comply with a judicial order or lawfully issued subpoena. (§99.31(a)(9))
- To caseworkers or other Child Protective Services representatives when DPHHS/CPS is legally responsible for the care and protection of the student. 20 U.S.C. § 1232g(b)(1)(L).
- To appropriate officials in connection with a health or safety emergency, subject to §99.36. (§99.31(a)(10)
- Information the school has designated as “directory information” under §99.37. (§99.31(a)(11))
Notice of Release of Directory Information
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), a Federal law, requires that Stevensville School District, with certain exceptions, obtain your written consent prior to the disclosure of personally identifiable information from your child’s education records. However, Stevensville School District may disclose appropriately designated “directory information” without written consent, unless you have advised the District to the contrary in accordance with District procedures. The primary purpose of directory information is to allow the Stevensville School District to include this type of information from your child’s education records in certain school publications. Examples include:
- A playbill, showing your student’s role in a drama production;
- The annual yearbook;
- Honor roll or other recognition lists;
- Student directories;
- Graduation programs; and
- Sports activity sheets, such as for wrestling, showing weight and height of team members.
Directory information, which is information that is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released, can also be disclosed to outside organizations without a parent’s prior written consent. Outside organizations include, but are not limited to, companies that manufacture class rings or publish yearbooks. In addition, two federal laws require local educational agencies (LEAs) receiving
assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) to provide military recruiters, upon request, with the following information – names, addresses and telephone listings – unless parents have advised the LEA that they do not want their student’s information disclosed without their prior written consent.
If you do not want the Stevensville School District to disclose directory information from your child’s education records without your prior written consent, you must notify the District in writing using Board Policy Form 3600F by September 14, 2018. The Stevensville School District has designated the following information as directory information: Student’s name, Address, Photograph, Date of birth, Dates of attendance, Grade level, Enrollment Status, Participation in officially recognized activities and sports, Weight and height of members of athletic teams, Degrees, Honors and awards received, Most recent educational agency or institution attended.
1These laws are: Section 9528 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (20 U.S.C. § 7908) and
10 U.S.C. § 503(c).
Allergens on School Campus
Stevensville Public Schools takes the health of all students very seriously. We ask that you be mindful of allergens such as nuts, and latex. We cannot control all allergens. However, we do not allow latex such as balloons, gloves, etc., in the school or at school events due to student allergies.
School District Website Access
The Stevensville School District website has moved. Our new website address is www.stevensvilleschools.org.
The Stevensville Public Schools website is designed to provide equal access information to all members of the Stevensville Community. Contact the Superintendent at 406-777-5481 regarding questions about the functionality of, or content on the website that is inaccessible. Information on filing a formal grievance with the District pursuant to the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act 1990 can be found by clicking the “Federal and Montana Legal Notices” link under “Quick Links.” Policy 1700 – Uniform Grievance Procedure can be found under the School Board Tab by selection “Board Policies.” This information may also be obtained by contacting the Superintendent at 406-777-5481.
School Wellness
The Stevensville School District is committed to providing school environments that promote and protect children’s health, well-being, and ability to learn, by supporting healthy eating and physical activity. Therefore, it is the policy of the Stevensville School District that:
- The Stevensville School District will engage students, parents, teachers, food service professionals, health professionals, and other interested community members in developing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing District-wide nutrition and physical activity policies and procedures.
- All students in grades K-12 will have opportunities, support, and encouragement to be physically active on a regular basis.
- The Stevensville School District will inform and update the public every 3 years, at a minimum, (including parents, students, and others in the community) about the content and implementation of the local wellness policies. The District will also measure periodically and make available to the public an assessment of the local wellness policy.
New Student Registration
New student registration will begin August 14, 2018 and will run from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm K-12. Immunization records and a birth certificate are requested at registration.
Early-Out Wednesdays
Stevensville Schools have scheduled early-out Wednesdays for every week of the upcoming school year. Students will be released at 2:31 (K-6) and 2:36 (7-12) in order to provide time for teacher training. Time for staff training is a premium and in order to serve each child’s needs, all staff must have the skills necessary. Some may be wondering why this is not done in the summer, rather than taking time out of the school year. Much of the teachers’ training is completed during the summer as workshops and college courses are taken during that time. The need for weekly meetings provides the opportunity for timely, specific training to all staff. As the staff works through the year they need time to receive specific training for curriculum and student needs. The early-out Wednesday training is a perfect opportunity to fulfill this need.
Student Information System – Infinite Campus
The Stevensville School District is in the third year using Infinite Campus as our student information system. This student information system is not just for the school. Parents have full access to their student’s academic progress, assignments, and attendance. We highly encourage every parent to contact the office staff at your child’s school to get your login information and password.
This is a great tool for parents and you can access your child’s academic information via the internet at any time.
District Open House
We invite you to attend the K-12 open house and book fair on September 12th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. We hope you will join us to meet your child’s teacher(s).

Stevensville Parent Teacher Club
Greetings from Stevensville Schools Parent Teacher Club! Our organization is here to enhance our wonderful school through parents and teachers working together. We strive to support the good work already in place and see where there are opportunities to build on those efforts. We are so excited to be preparing for another year of productive collaboration and projects. We would like to invite you to join us!
The fun starts right off the bat as we prepare for the Homecoming Parade and work to boost school pride and raise funds through the sale of Yellow Jacket Swag. We’ll then proceed to coordinate the Jog-a-thon with grades K-8 as well as see how we can assist for activities such as vision screening and picture day.
Moving through the year, we stay busy providing volunteer and financial support to staff as needed. Some of our activities include recognizing the staff with an appreciation week and breakfast, assisting with kindergarten roundup, providing support to The Backpack Program, continuing to sell Jacket Swag, and providing meals to staff during Parent Teacher Conferences. And this year we will be hosting the 4th annual “Stevi’s Got Talent” to showcase some of our amazing students.
We are run by volunteers and need your contribution. We have a diversity of tasks so all skills and allotments of time are appreciated. Whether or not you can make it to meetings, we welcome your participation. Get connected, and we’ll go from there! It is a great way to enhance your connection with your child’s school, to expand on your parent network and to have a little fun! We also gratefully accept monetary donations. Contact us for more information.
Our first meeting will be September 4, 2018 at 5 pm in the Middle School Library Loft. Monthly meetings will follow at the same place and time on the first Tuesday of every month. If you would like to be on our email list to stay informed about activities and meetings, please send your contact info to [email protected]. You can also follow us on Facebook for lots of good updates: Stevensville MT Parent Teacher Club.
See you at school! Go Yellow Jackets!
Transportation News
As summer days grow shorter, all across the Bitterroot Valley will be observing that timeless ritual: the first day of school. It is a time when parents breathe sighs of relief and students anticipate new beginnings and new challenges.
Unfortunately, the beginning of school is also a time when children are at increased risk of transportation related injuries from pedestrian, bicycle, school bus, and motor vehicle crashes because there are many more children on the road each morning and afternoon and many drivers’ patterns change. Therefore, as the school opens its doors, it is time for everyone – motorists, parents, educators, and students – to improve their traffic safety practices. The following tips can help make it a safe and happy school year for the whole community.
Tips for Motorists
- Slow down and obey all traffic laws and speed limits.
- Always stop for a school bus that has stopped to load or unload students. Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm tell you the school bus is stopped to load or unload students. State law requires you to STOP.
- When driving in neighborhoods or school zones, watch for young people who may be in a hurry to get to school and may not be thinking about getting there safely.
Tips for Parents
- Help your children learn and practice the safety rules for walking, bicycling, or riding in a passenger car or school bus.
- Supervise young children as they are walking or biking to school or as they wait at the school bus stop.
- Be a good role model, especially when you are with your kids. Always buckle up in the car, always wear a helmet when biking, and always follow pedestrian safety rules.
Tips for Students
- Always buckle up when you are riding in a car.
- Always wear a helmet and follow traffic safety rules when riding your bike.
- If you ride a school bus, learn and practice the safety rules for waiting at the bus stop, getting on and off the bus, and riding the bus.
- If you walk to school, learn and practice the safety rules for pedestrians. Always cross at cross walks and obey all traffic signs.
- Be a good role model for your younger brothers and sisters and friends, and help them learn and practice the safety rules.

Drop-Off Lane Guidelines
In an effort to keep our students safe and traffic moving during drop-off times, we are instituting a drop-off area traffic safety person. The hope is that this person will help ease the congestion in the area and make the area a safer place for our parents and students. We appreciate your help in this matter, the following are guidelines to help with this process.
- The two lanes closest to the buildings are for bus traffic only. Do not park in these lanes. This is especially important during bus loading.
- Do not park in the traffic loops during the day. This will allow for emergency vehicles and alleviate traffic congestion and back up onto Park Avenue.
- The two lanes closest to the parking area are for stop and go drop-off traffic. No vehicles should be parked or unattended in these lanes. The right lane is for quick drop off traffic only. The left lane is for moving traffic only. Please do not drop a child in the left lane for their safety. Once you have dropped your child(ren) please merge left and depart.
- Vehicles using the drop-off lane need to move forward (North) to allow space for cars entering from the street prior to dropping off students. PLEASE DO NOT STOP AT THE CORNER OF THE LOOP AS THIS CAUSES SEVERE CONGESTION. Due to traffic volume in the drop-off loop, vehicles must pull forward to avoid the hazard of blocking Park Avenue. Please remember that this traffic pattern is for your safety as well as the safety of our children.
- If you would like to walk your child to their classroom, we ask that you please park street-side on the west side of Park Avenue. The traffic loop is for stop and go drop-off
